Pen and ink drawing

Basically, we distinguish between pen and pencil drawings. Actual pencil drawings are very rare and should in no way be regarded as preliminary drawings or sketches; they are independent works made with a different pen. The pen drawings (Flora originals) are made with extremely sharp nibs on very hard paper. In later years (from the 1980s onwards), Paul Flora also used “Hutten paper” (made from old linen) specially produced for him in a Liechtenstein paper mill in a wooden Dutchman and provided with old watermarks.
